If you want to feel more motivated – be in the moment.
If you want to motivate others – help them to be in the moment.
Motivation is only possible if we believe that now is important. If it can wait – we will not be motivated. If we need to think about it – we will not be motivated.
If you are feeling depressed or unmotivated – then do the thing that you do that puts you in the moment. Because being in the moment forces you to face your fears and draw upon your strengths.
What do you do that places you in the moment? Perhaps you need to do it more.
I love to downhill ski. When I am skiing downhill there is no time to think about anything other than the next 20 feet of terrain. I am totally in the moment and I enjoy it. It is exhilarating and demanding. At the end of the day I am both physically exhausted and mentally refreshed.
In downhill skiing the immediate demand on the coordination of my mental focus and physical response is incredibly motivating. What is it that you love to do that demands the same mental and physical coordination from you?
